About TakeHomeCalc

Free, accurate salary & take-home pay calculators for the US and UK.

TakeHomeCalc helps working people in the United States and United Kingdom answer one deceptively simple question: how much of my salary do I actually keep? The gap between your gross pay and your real, spendable take-home pay is shaped by federal and state income tax, Social Security and Medicare, UK income tax and National Insurance, and pre-tax savings like 401(k) and pension contributions. Our free calculators turn all of that into a clear, instant breakdown — no sign-up, no spreadsheets.

Our mission

Personal finance should be understandable. We build fast, no-nonsense tools that show exactly where your money goes, so you can compare job offers, plan a budget, negotiate a raise, or decide whether a move to a different state is worth it — with confidence and clarity.

Who we are

TakeHomeCalc is built and maintained by Krizia Technologies, a software and technology company based in Faridabad, India. We build web applications and data tools, and we created TakeHomeCalc because clear, trustworthy pay calculators are surprisingly hard to find. Our team combines software engineering with careful research of published tax rules to keep the tools accurate and up to date.

How we calculate your results

Our calculators use published and projected 2026 tax parameters and standard payroll formulas:

  • US: progressive federal income-tax brackets, the standard deduction, Social Security (6.2% up to the wage base), Medicare (1.45% plus the additional 0.9% surtax), and an estimated effective state income-tax rate.
  • UK: Income Tax bands with the Personal Allowance and its £100,000 taper, Class 1 National Insurance, and separate bands for Scotland.
  • Pre-tax retirement contributions (401(k) / workplace pension) that reduce your taxable income.

Our sources

We base our figures on official guidance from the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), the Social Security Administration, and HM Revenue & Customs / GOV.UK. Where 2026 values were not yet finalised at the time of writing, we used the most recent confirmed figures.

Editorial standards & independence

We aim to be accurate and transparent. Our tools are provided free and funded by advertising and, where relevant, affiliate partnerships — but recommendations never change how the calculators work or what the numbers show. Results are estimates for educational purposes and are not a substitute for professional advice; see our Terms & Disclaimer.
