What ₹50 Lakh CTC Really Means In Hand

A ₹50 Lakh package looks straightforward on an offer letter, but the amount credited to your bank account each month is different. Your cost to company (CTC) includes your employer's contributions and benefits, while your in-hand salary is what remains after income tax, Health & Education Cess and your own EPF contribution. On a ₹50 Lakh package the gross works out to roughly ₹4,16,667 per month before deductions.

Under the new tax regime — the default for FY 2026‑27 — you get a ₹75,000 standard deduction and the Section 87A rebate makes salary up to ₹12.75 lakh completely tax-free. Beyond that, slabs rise from 5% to 30%, with a 4% cess on the tax. The old regime offers a smaller ₹50,000 standard deduction but lets you claim Section 80C (up to ₹1.5 lakh, including your EPF), 80D and HRA — which can win if you invest heavily or pay rent.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the in-hand salary for ₹50 Lakh per annum?

Use the calculator above for your exact figure — it depends on your tax regime and EPF contribution. Under the new regime with the ₹75,000 standard deduction, your monthly in-hand is shown instantly along with a full tax breakdown.

How much is ₹50 Lakh per month?

₹50 Lakh a year is about ₹4,16,667 gross per month before any deductions. Your actual in-hand pay is lower after income tax, cess and your EPF contribution — see the exact monthly figure above.

Which regime is better for a ₹50 Lakh salary?

Switch between New and Old regime above to compare. The new regime usually wins unless you claim large deductions under Section 80C (₹1.5 lakh), 80D or HRA. The calculator shows the take-home difference immediately.

Is ₹50 Lakh a good salary in India?

It depends on your city, experience and role. Because there is no income tax on salary up to ₹12.75 lakh under the new regime, packages near that level keep an unusually high share of gross pay — the "you keep" percentage above shows exactly how much.
